Skopje, 29.07.2023 – Rector of “Mother Teresa” University, Izet Zeqiri Ph.D., opened the third individual exhibition of mosaics, and the first dedicated to the life and activity of Gonxhe Bojaxhiu – Mother Teresa from Skopje.

The exhibition was opened at the new Campus of the “Mother Teresa” University in Skopje. It includes 22 works of art realized in mosaic and is entitled “Mother Teresa from Skopje to Calcutta”.

Art lecturer Jëldës Asani elaborated an assessment of the creativity of academician Zeqiri, who said that Izet Zeqiri’s work is an indicator of seriousness, discipline, efforts, despite his many commitments as rector of “Mother Teresa” University, he provides at the same time his spiritual creativity.

“The figure of Mother Teresa has inspired many creators from the country and the world, becoming the subject in the daily press, literature, postage stamps and various visual artistic mediums such as: painting, sculpture, photography,” said Asani. He added that “The virtues, the qualities of the soul, the wisdom and the love of an Albanian woman that radiate a divine majesty and power through sacrifices are reflected even better in the mosaics of Izet Zeqir”.

Human wisdom, psychological aspect, divine mercy and her warm smile are exposed in her portraits, they highlight easily identifiable images of her, while precisely the mosaic technique allows the author a confident articulation of the elements of perception and memory, synthesizing it through an original approach which originates from the sincere inspiration of Izet Zeqiri, said art lecturer Jëldës Asani.

Academician Gazafer Bajram from the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, said that the author’s passion for the art of mosaics is amazing, while the number of works created with such love and passion is motivating.

The author of the exhibition, rector Izet Zeqiri, thanked everyone for their participation and appreciated the works as a debt that Albanians in general, and he in particular, owes to Mother Teresa.

A large number of art lovers from Skopje, Tetova and Prishtina, from various spheres of activity, took part in the third consecutive exhibition of academician Zeqiri.

The exhibition “Mother Teresa from Skopje to Calcutta” was concluded with Mother Teresa’s statement: “It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing”.
