Skopje, 23 December 2025 – Today, Mother Teresa University in Skopje and the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Republic of North Macedonia formalized a strategic partnership through the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation. The document was signed by the Rector of MTU, Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., and the President of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ms. Bujare Abazi.
The purpose of the memorandum is to regulate and envisage long-term cooperation for the implementation of joint projects in the fields of professional education, scientific research, and student internships within the area of capital markets.
According to the memorandum, both institutions are to engage in providing non-formal professional education for students enrolled in economics, finance, and law study programs, related to domestic and international regulations of financial instruments. In addition, practical training is to be implemented, enabling students to acquire hands-on skills directly within the Securities and Exchange Commission, thereby increasing their competitiveness in the labor market. Furthermore, academic support is to be provided, with experts from the Commission offering professional opinions on bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral theses addressing capital markets and financial management.
In addition to the educational component, the memorandum also foresees participation in European Union projects and cooperation in applying for international funds aimed at the development of the Western Balkan countries. It also provides for the development of strategies through the engagement of MTU’s professional staff in preparing analyses and policies in the field of capital markets at the request of the Commission, and the advancement of financial education as a joint investment in raising the level of financial literacy among the general population in the Republic of North Macedonia.
MTU Rector, Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., accompanied by Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Fati Iseni, Ph.D., emphasized that the cooperation represents a significant step toward connecting the academic institution with the key financial regulatory bodies. The President of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ms. Bujare Abazi, highlighted that supporting students and encouraging creative intelligence are the main guiding principles toward guaranteed institutional success.
