Skopje, November 20, 2025 – Today, Mother Teresa University in Skopje, in cooperation with the Language Implementation Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Albanian Alphabet Museum in Bitola, organized a ceremonial academy, where individuals from various fields spoke about the multifaceted significance of the successful completion of the proceedings of this historic congress.
The ceremonial academy, organized by the Rector of MTU, Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., host and creator of the event, was honored by the participation of Mr. Lulzim Aliu, Deputy Minister of Education and Science; Mr. Granit Osmani, Director of the Language Implementation Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia; and Mr. Aldo Kelmenti, diplomat from the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in the Republic of North Macedonia. A speech on the occasion of November 22 was also delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Full Prof. Mustafa Ibrahimi, Ph.D.
The Rector of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., in his welcoming address, stated that the Albanian language and alphabet represent not only a means of communication, but also a guiding bridge of national identity, heritage, and the values that Albanians preserve. “On the occasion of November 22, we commemorate not only the creation of our alphabet, but also the importance of the continuity of the language, of education, and of our dedication to knowledge,” noted MTU Rector, Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D.
The Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Lulzim Aliu, added that today, more than a century later, we continue to be the guardians of this precious heritage. Our alphabet is the tool which we write our history, shape new generations, and create science, art, and culture with. The Director of the Language Implementation Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia, Me. Granit Osmani, mentioned that the Agency systematically protects the written Albanian language, with its team of proven professionals in the field.
Mr. Aldo Kelmenti, diplomat from the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in the Republic of North Macedonia, congratulated MTU for the role it plays in fostering the Albanian language and culture in Macedonia.
The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Full Prof. Mustafa Ibrahimi, Ph.D., declared that Albanian intellectuals, regarding the unique Albanian script, in addition to the struggle they had to wage against Ottoman rulers, feudal and clerical circles, Greek Phanariots, and neighboring reactionary governments that attempted to prevent the spread and affirmation of the Albanian script and schooling, also had to struggle against the local and selfish interests of some Albanian communities and cultural groups.
At this important event, a trilateral Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Mother Teresa University in Skopje, the Language Implementation Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia, and the Albanian Alphabet Museum in Bitola.
