Skopje, October 2025 – In this year’s edition of Balkan Green Ideas 2025, the team from the Faculty of Technological Sciences represented North Macedonia and was declared a regional winner with their innovative idea Eco Scrub, a natural cream made from coffee waste.

This year’s competition lasted five days and was held in Ohrid. This competition brought together 20 green ideas from six countries across the region. Among the strong competition, Eco Scrub stood out for its creative and sustainable approach to organic waste management. The winners were selected by an international professional jury with representatives from Belgium, Austria, Greece, and Bulgaria.

Behind this idea stands a dedicated academic team Assoc. Prof. Zimere Saiti Musliji, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Drita Abazi, Ph.D., and Lecturer Sani Demiri. Ph.D..

Their many years of research in the field of sustainability and biomass reuse served as a scientific basis for developing this innovative product.

This success reinforces the active role of MTU in promoting innovation, science, and sustainability at the regional level.
