Skopje, August 22, 2024 – Today, the Rector of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, Lecturer Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., welcomed the First Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia and Minister of Environment and Planning, Mr. Izet Mexhiti, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Lulzim Aliu.

At the working meeting, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Izet Mexhiti, and the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Lulzim Aliu, congratulated Rector Zeqiri on the achievements of MTU during the past years, offering him institutional support for further consolidation of MTU in raising the quality of higher education.

Rector Zeqiri expressed his gratitude for their visit and congratulated them on their important position in the executive power. The meeting was attended by Vice-Rectors Assoc. Prof. Rizvan Sulejmani, Ph.D.; Lecturer Fati Iseni, Ph.D.; Ass. Prof. Bujamin Bela, Ph.D.; Lecturer Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D.; as well as Secretary General, Ms. Mukades Hajdari. The Rector, Lecturer Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., informed them that the student enrollments for the upcoming academic year 2024/2025 are already underway with a continuous increase in the number of students, with the development of the study programs offered by Mother Teresa University in Skopje, and with the requirements and challenges for the premises of the Mother Teresa University campus in Skopje.

The Rector of MTU, Lecturer Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., mentioned that he informed Mr. Mexhiti and Mr. Aliu about the general activities of the university.

“We, as a university, informed the First Deputy Prime Minister about all the activities undertaken so far, especially about the preparations for the enrollment of new students, the investments we have made in the infrastructure of the university, as well as our new request for the realization of the idea of the university campus, already put into a project,” added the Rector of MTU, Lecturer Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D.

The First Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Izet Mexhiti, to all students and to all academic and administrative staff, announced the great news that, these days, the government is expected to start a procedure for the beginning of the construction of this higher education institution, i.e., the University Campus of MTU.

“Today is the day when I can announce good news—big news—about creating a new perspective for Mother Teresa University in Skopje. These days, we are waiting for the decision to start the procedure for beginning the construction of the university campus, and, with this investment capital, we prove that the highest priority will be education in all areas,” stated Mr. Mexhiti, adding that the campus project is already at the Ministry of Transport to obtain a construction permit, and only the government’s decision is awaited, so “I believe we are on the right track, as far as our part as government is concerned.”.

During the visit in honor of the 114th birthday of Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, aka Mother Teresa, Mr. Mexhiti said that MTU will have the support of the government, while “we expect the production of quality personnel from this institution.”.

In honor of the 114th anniversary of the birth of the humanist Mother Teresa, whose name is proudly born by our university, Rector Zeqiri presented the First Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Mexhiti, with his art work with the image of Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, aka Mother Teresa.

Within the framework of the visit, the First Deputy Prime Minister also visited the premises of the university, the university library, the computer laboratories, and some other premises.
