Bitola, November 18–19, 2024 – The Proceedings of the International Scientific Conference “The Development of the Albanian Education and the Albanian Language” took place in Bitola for two days in a row. A hundred participants from several Albanian universities and institutes from North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Albania took part in the conference, among them the lecturers from Mother Teresa University in Skopje who presented their papers. 

The conference brought together researchers, lecturers, and experts from various academic institutions with the aim of sharing ideas and solving issues related to national education and promotion of the Albanian language. The contribution of MTU lecturers in the scientific discussions was but a proof of their commitment to the further development of Albanian education and culture. The event took place in an atmosphere that honored the rich cultural and historical tradition of Bitola, highlighting the importance of the city in the history of the Albanian language. 

At the ceremony, the following presented themselves with welcoming speeches: Zait Aliu, head of the Alphabet Museum in Bitola; Lecturer Elvira Fetahu, Ph.D., rector of the University of Elbasan “Aleksandër Xhuvani”; Lecturer Mustafa Ibrahimi, Ph.D., dean of the Faculty of Humanities at MTU Skopje; Dorina Daiu, Ph.D., Institute for the Studies of Communist Crimes and Consequences in Albania in Tirana; and professor Naim Berisha, head of the Albanological Institute of Pristina, who was awarded by the organizers with plaques on which the house where the Alphabetical Congress took place in Bitola was styled. In separate sessions, lecturers from Mother Teresa University in Skopje presented their papers:

  • Lecturer Izer Maksuti, Ph.D., “Language Protection: The Case of the Albanian Language Within and Out of the Borders of the Country; Albulena Dehari, “The Vulnerability of the Albanian Language to Foreign Words”;
  • Drita Xhemaili, Ph.D., “Language Competence of the Third-Generation Albanian Immigrants in Germany”;
  • Rilind Mahmudi, Ph.D., and Dr. Majlinda Ismaili-Mahmudi, Ph.D., “Comparative Analysis of Verb Syntagma in Albanian and English”.

 MTU’s participation at the conference reflects the university’s commitment to promoting scientific dialogue and inter-academic cooperation at the national and international level.
