Skopje, April 28, 2025 – With a solemn ceremony, in the presence of the Minister of Education and Science, Ms. Vesna Janevska, students, academic staff, state officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps in the country, mayors of municipalities, and famous business figures, today, at the premises of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, the handover of duties of the current rector, Lecturer Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., and the newly elected rector, Lecturer Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., took place.
Lecturer Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., officially assumed his new position through the presentation of the Insignia by the rector, Lecturer Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., and he presented his future rector’s agenda.
The President of the Senate, Lecturer Zoran Gacovski, Ph.D., at the opening of the ceremony, warmly welcomed those present and emphasized the importance of the moment for Mother Teresa University in Skopje. He greeted the contribution of the management so far and congratulated the new Rector, Lecturer Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., for his successful term in office at the university, expressing his belief that with effort and dedication, new academic and development goals will be achieved.
Lecturer Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., in his welcoming speech, highlighted the challenges and achievements during his term as rector, underlining the transformation of Mother Teresa University in Skopje from premises of difficult conditions to the construction of a new modern campus. He highlighted the implementation of capital projects worth over 60 million euros, and he also announced many donations, the establishment of three new faculties, the increase in the number of students and salaries of academic staff, as well as the creation of the Quality Office for Sustainable Development.
The Minister of Education and Science, Ms. Vesna Janevska, in her speech emphasized the Government’s commitment to supporting Mother Teresa University in Skopje, highlighting the investment of 34 million euros for the construction of the new modern campus. She added that the goal is for new generations capable of facing the challenges of the future and contributing to the development of society to be created.
The Minister of Education and Science, Ms. Vesna Janevska, also congratulated the new rector of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, Lecturer Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., and expressed gratitude to Lecturer Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., for his previous engagement.
Lecturer Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., the newly appointed Rector of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, in his speech emphasized that he is to be dedicated to the academic and scientific progress of the institution, promoting the values of knowledge, cooperation, and social responsibility. He invited the entire university community to work dedicatedly in the further development of the university as a center of academic excellence.
With the appointment of Lecturer Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., as a new rector, Mother Teresa University in Skopje marked the appointment of the third rector in a row since its founding, thus continuing the mission of academic development and institutional progress.
