Skopje, December 17, 2025 – Today, at the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, the President of the Trade Union of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, Assoc. Prof. Avni Avdiu, Ph.D., was welcomed by the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Afrim Gashi, on which occasion the Collective Agreement of the university trade unions was signed.

The Collective Agreement advances and guarantees the rights, benefits, and privileges of employees at state universities under the authority of their founder-the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia. The agreement followed the signing of the initial agreement with the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University – Skopje, after which the trade unions of the five state universities united within the Union of State Universities’ Trade Unions and, through persistence, requested the signing of the same type of agreement for their universities as well.

Today, the Collective Agreement, along with the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, was also signed by the other state universities in the country, i.e., the ones in Tetovo, in Ohrid, in Shtip, and in Bitola.

This represents a significant achievement of the trade unions and their trade union confederation, accomplished within a short time frame and through continuous institutional engagement.
