During the 2025–2026 academic year, the University continued to actively promote the Erasmus+ programme as a key instrument for academic internationalisation. The Office for International Relations provided support and information on mobility opportunities for students, teaching staff, and administrative staff, including application procedures, participation criteria, and preparation for mobility.

The Erasmus+ programme represents a key initiative of the European Union aimed at promoting education, training, youth, and sport. It seeks to foster mobility, cooperation, and innovation within education systems, enabling students, teachers, and administrative staff to acquire new knowledge, skills, and experience in an international environment. Through this programme, intercultural dialogue and a sense of European belonging are also strengthened.

The Republic of North Macedonia has been part of the Erasmus+ programme as a programme country since 2014, enabling active participation in all of its components. This participation provides students and employees with opportunities to apply for mobility programmes and training, as well as to participate in joint European projects, directly contributing to the improvement of the quality of education and professional development.

Mother Teresa University in Skopje continuously strengthens its position within the Erasmus+ programme, with a clear strategic focus on internationalisation. Through active participation in mobility programmes and partnerships, the University creates opportunities for the exchange of good practices, modernisation of curricula, and introduction of innovative approaches to teaching. These activities contribute to improving academic quality and increasing the attractiveness of the University for both domestic and international students.

During the reporting period from April 2025 to April 2026, Mother Teresa University in Skopje successfully implemented the following mobilities within the Erasmus+ programme:

• Student mobility for studies – 5 (five)
• Student mobility for traineeships – 1 (one)
• Mobility of teaching and administrative staff – 8 (eight)

In addition to outgoing mobilities, the University continued to host international students and staff from partner institutions. During the reporting period, approximately 30 (thirty) incoming mobilities of teaching and administrative staff were realised. These visits significantly contributed to the exchange of experiences, improvement of teaching practices, and strengthening of international cooperation. At the same time, they enriched the academic environment and encouraged intercultural dialogue, which has a positive impact on the overall development of the University.

At the institutional level, participation in the Erasmus+ programme has resulted in the expansion of the international partner network, deeper cooperation with universities and organisations across Europe, as well as the enhancement of administrative capacities, particularly in the areas of project and mobility management. The International Cooperation Sector plays an important role in coordinating and implementing these activities, providing effective support to all participants.

Furthermore, Erasmus+ promotes the digitalisation of processes, including the use of mobility management tools and the implementation of European initiatives such as Erasmus Without Paper and the European Student Card, contributing to more efficient and modern institutional operations.

Participation in the Erasmus+ programme also contributes to increasing the competitiveness of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, enabling it to position itself as a relevant partner within the European Higher Education Area. At the same time, the programme has a broader social impact by promoting cooperation, understanding, and solidarity among peoples, which is particularly important for the development of contemporary European society.

Through all these activities, the University continues to enhance its international visibility, create new opportunities for its students and employees, and actively contribute to the development of the European academic community.

ERASMUS+ INTER-INSTITUTIONAL AGREEMENTS

Inter-institutional agreements form the basis for implementing mobility activities within the Erasmus+ programme and enable the exchange of students, teaching staff, and administrative staff between higher education institutions. They represent a key instrument for establishing and maintaining international cooperation.

During the reporting period, the University continued to develop cooperation with partner institutions through cooperation agreements, memoranda, academic networking, and activities related to mobility and projects. These partnerships provide a foundation for mobility, joint participation in projects, and long-term institutional development.

The agreements contain important information such as mobility quotas for students and staff (for studies and training), academic fields, agreed mobility periods, nomination deadlines, language of instruction, as well as other relevant guidelines for the successful implementation of mobility activities.

The International Cooperation Sector and the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, in coordination with the management of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, continuously work on expanding and improving the network of partner institutions. In this regard, efforts are being made to establish new collaborations, as well as to activate exchanges with institutions with which no formal cooperation has yet been established through agreements.

During the reporting period from April 2025 to April 2026, 5 (five) existing inter-institutional agreements were renewed, while new agreements were signed with the following universities:

These collaborations contribute to enriching the educational experience of students and staff, as well as increasing the University’s visibility within the European Higher Education Area.
