Skopje, November 2020 – COST Info Day this year was held for the first time in North Macedonia, and is hosted for the first time by “Mother Teresa” University in Skopje.

The conference with nearly 100 participants from our country and Europe, took place online today (Thursday, 26 November 2020), marking an unforgettable experience for MTU.

Welcome speech was given by the Rector of MTU, Prof. dr. Aziz Pollozhani; introductory speech was given by Mr. Christer Halen, senior administrator for scientific operations at COST; and a welcome speech by the director of COST, Dr. Ronald de Bruin.

The discussion topics for COST Day (European Cooperation in Education and Technology) this year were: What is the COST program, How to participate, How to apply, and Evidence from the previous participants of the COST program.

MTU professors Bekim Fetai and Diturije Ismaili presented the COST experiences at “Mother Teresa” University.

COST provides networking opportunities for researchers and innovators in order to strengthen Europe’s capacity to address scientific, technological and social challenges. The three strategic priorities of COST are:

· Promoting and spreading excellence

· Promoting interdisciplinary research for the science of progress

· Empower and retain young researchers and innovators

The six countries of the Western Balkan region are actively involved in the COST program, joining in the following years: Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, since 1991, North Macedonia since 2002, Montenegro since 2015, and in 2018 Albania and Kosovo became members of COST.
