Skopje, 20.06.2022 – Rector of “Mother Teresa’’ University in Skopje Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., part of the Vice Rector for Education and Students Prof. Inor. Fati Iseni, Vice Rector for Finance, Investment and Development Doc.Dr. Bujamin Bela held a working meeting with a delegation from the Islamic Religious Community of North Macedonia, led by its President, Shaqir Ef. Fetahu.
During this meeting, Reis ul ulema Shaqir ef. Fetahu congratulated the Rector Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., on his new job as a rector of MTU, and wished him best luck in the new role. He also added that MTU has a special importance for the Islamic Religious Community.
Rector Zeqiri thanked the President of IRC for the visit and they both agreed to cooperate in the future. They agreed to establish persistent communication, as well as to offer an opportunity to all madrassa graduates from the Skopje Madrasa to continue their studies at MTU, which at the moment is still not possible due to legal obstacles, and they hope that this problem will be solved soon in the Assembly.
Fetahu informed Rector Zeqiri that unlike the Faculty of Islamic Sciences which is accredited, the madrasa has no accreditation, and is in a ‘status quo’ even though it meets the criteria under the law, where 65 percent of the subjects are required to be scientific and 35 percent of religious character.
Part of the IRC delegation were also the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Shaban ef. Sulejmani; director of the Madrasa ‘Isa Beu’, Ibrahim ef. Idrizi, and director of the Religious-Education Sector, prof. Jusuf ef. Zimeri.
