Skopje, 30.03.2023 – Today, for the first time was shown the Global Migration Film Festival (GMFF) on the premises of “Mother Teresa” University, which was organized by International Organization for Migration (IOM) which is part of United Nations Systems.

Within the framework of the Global Film Migration Festival, the film “Dying for Europe” was shown today at MTU, in front of the students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, while the supporter of this project was Lecturer Elisabeta Bajrami Ollogu, Ph.D.

The United Nations International Organization for Migration launched the Global Migration Film Festival in 2016. In 2019, the GMFF has been shown in 106 countries – the official selection of 32 films led to 600 film screenings, attracting a global audience of over 40,000 people.

The film shows the problems faced by ordinary people who become refugees overnight and usually lose everything they have. What is imposed on them is to take dangerous journeys, while the destination is always the same, Europe.

In the end of the film, the students opened a discussion about what they saw, as well as the whole process of migration and the migration crisis. North Macedonia started celebrating GMFF in 2017.
