Marseille, France, April 2026 – This week, Rector of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., accompanied by the Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Bujamin Bela, Ph.D., participated in the international training “From Local to Global: Shaping the Future of International Education”, an event organized by Téthys – Consortium of Mediterranean Universities in cooperation with CIVIS European University Alliance that was held in Marseille, France.

During a highly intensive week, the training program focused on key dimensions of higher education internationalization and funding models; specifically, core concepts and institutional strategies for its development were examined, along with ways to implement them in study programs and everyday academic life.

Special attention was paid to the internationalization of curricula through strategic partnerships, joint BIP programs, and innovative formats such as COIL, as well as funding models and hybrid programs. One of the topics discussed was the concept of “internationalisation at home,” which refers to integrating the international dimension directly into the student experience without the need for physical mobility. The idea, in essence, is to bring the world into the campus.

The role of recruiting and promoting international students was also discussed, including the development of differentiated strategies by region and targeted profiles, as well as the creation of long-term projects that ensure real and measurable impact – projects that are not rushed or lacking clear vision, but those that leave a lasting mark.

Through interactive workshops, round tables, and exchanges of practices with partner universities from various countries, this experience significantly enriched the institutional vision and opened the door to concrete collaborations that can be realized in the coming months.
