Skopje, April 4, 2024 – On the premises of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, on this day, the Rector, Lecturer Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., signed the Memorandum of Cooperation, thus ceremonially opening the university library invested by AXIS Foundation led by the CEO, Mr. Rufat Sherifi. This was a result of the excellent memorandum of cooperation between the two institutions.
The purpose of the Memorandum of Cooperation is the common interests and mutual cooperation of the two institutions aiming at development and cooperation in the field of education. The cooperation between Mother Teresa University and Skopje AXIS Foundation for Development and Civilization is to be realized through the exchange of experiences of scientific and professional knowledge, continuous and coordinated cooperation to improve the educational process through donations of various funds and equipment, as well as other forms of cooperation that are to be determined by the two institutions.
At the official opening of the library, the Rector of MTU, Lecturer Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., thanked the CEO of AXIS Foundation for Development and Civilization, Mr. Rufat Sherifi, for the effective actions and his word to donate for the complete renovation of the University’s library.
“Every success that happens to our University makes me happy because we are a community and we often feel like a family, sharing good and bad together, and, to us, this facility represents a second joy, after the inauguration of the prime facility since the library is the pillar the university lacked because there was no suitable place for the books to be stored”, stated Rector Zeqiri.
Rector Zeqiri addressed the attendees, then the students of MTU, and wished them to make the most of this modern library and reading room, “because this concerns our future”, as he stressed.
“Today, I express my joy that, together, this project was finalized in the nick of time, and we as a foundation managed to put a stone on this great fortress which is to be at the service of the future generations and those now pursuing their studies at this university campus.”, emphasized the CEO of AXIS Foundation for Development and Civilization, Mr. Rufat Sherifi.
Mr. Sherifi emphasized that together with Rector Zeqiri they tried to find a project that is to be a part of this library which is to be convenient and useful for all students who are to study and devote themselves deeply to their studies.”, added CEO Sherifi.
The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Lecturer Mustafa Ibrahimi, Ph.D., in his speech on behalf of the employees of Mother Teresa University library, welcomed the attendees and thanked them for participating in this significant event for the students and employees of MTU.
Lecturer Ibrahimi presented a brief chronological report on the development of the University Library, emphasizing that: “For MTU, 2018 was a difficult year for the consolidation of the organizational structure, with the establishment of the Center for Academic Publications and Library Information Systems (CAPBIS). In 2018, MTU library became a member of the COBISS regional network of libraries, while in 2019, it became a full member of the Library
Association of the Republic of North Macedonia, participating in the 46. International Scientific Conference of Librarians, held in Shtip”.
Dean Ibrahimi also emphasized that: “With the establishment of the Center for Academic Publications and Library Information Systems (CAPBIS), 20 academic books with the MTU logo were published, two scientific journals with multiple editions, and two issues of MTU Student student magazine, as well as several memoranda of cooperation were signed with St. Clement of Ohrid National and University Library, where in 2019, we held the Promotion of 6 scientific books”.
The library and reading room of Mother Teresa University in Skopje has 6,000+ books with publications from the country and abroad, which all students studying in the new campus of MTU can make use of.
