Skopje, May 6, 2026 – The Faculty of Social Sciences at Mother Teresa University in Skopje, in cooperation with Kalliri i Mirësisi humanitarian organization, successfully organized a panel discussion on the topic of “Children Deprived of Parental Care in Contemporary Societies: Challenges and Our Responsibility.”
The event was attended by lecturers, experts, students, and representatives of civil society with the aim of addressing one of the most sensitive social issues and encouraging reflection on our collective responsibility.
The panelists approached the topic from various interdisciplinary perspectives. Full Prof. Enver Abdullahi, Ph.D., discussed the sociological dimensions of this issue in contemporary society; Assoc. Prof. Elisabeta Bajrami Ollogu, Ph.D., lecturer in social policies, focused on the legal frameworks and institutional support; Assoc. Prof. Nita Beluli Luma, Ph.D., lecturer in psychology, analyzed the emotional and developmental impact on children deprived of parental care; and Mr. Zija Ismaili, in his capacity as a theologian, offered a perspective on the ethical and humanitarian values of caring for these children.
The event achieved its goal of encouraging dialogue and raising social awareness, highlighting the need for greater engagement from all stakeholders in ensuring a better future for children deprived of parental care.
