Skopje, June 10, 2026 – Today, in the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, specifically by the Committee on Education, Science, and Sport and the Legislative Committee, the Statutory Decision Amending and Supplementing the Statute of Mother Teresa University in Skopje was reviewed and adopted.
During the sessions of the parliamentary committees, the rationale for the adoption of this statutory act was presented by the Rector of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., and the Secretary General of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, Assoc. Prof. Rahim Jashari, Ph.D.
In their presentation, the MTU leadership emphasized that the amendments and supplements to the MTU Statute stem from the need to align its provisions with the current legal, organizational, and functional status of MTU. This process ensures the full and consistent implementation of the legal framework governing higher education in the Republic of North Macedonia. The proposed amendments enable: alignment of the internal institutional organization with the latest academic developments, updating of the provisions regulating the official identity and functioning of the academic units, and enhancement of the normative framework to ensure efficient, accountable, and transparent governance of MTU.
The members of both parliamentary committees unanimously assessed that the proposed amendments are fully aligned with the applicable legislation and directly contribute to strengthening the institutional capacities of Mother Teresa University in Skopje.
The adoption of this Statutory Decision by the relevant parliamentary committees represents a highly significant step in the process of MTU’s legal and institutional consolidation. This decision creates all the necessary preconditions for sustainable development and the successful fulfillment of its mission in the fields of higher education, scientific research, and service to the community.
