Skopje, October 2026 – As part of the observance of “Pink October” – Breast Cancer Awareness Month, students from the Psychology study program at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Mother Teresa University in Skopje carried out an educational and awareness-raising activity in the center of Skopje, with the mentorship and support of the coordinator of this study program. The “Ezra” Association, which provides support to patients affected by this disease, also joined this humanitarian initiative, further strengthening the message of solidarity.
Through this campaign, students conveyed messages of emotional and psychological support by distributing cards with special awareness messages to passersby. Each card represented a symbolic call to pause and reflect on the importance of prevention, solidarity, and human support for individuals facing breast cancer.
The activity emphasized the fact that breast cancer, beyond its physical aspect, profoundly affects an individual’s emotional and psychological well-being, as well as their social relationships. In this regard, it was highlighted that coping with the disease and the rehabilitation process require a multidisciplinary approach in line with the biopsychosocial model, where medical care, psychological support, and social assistance represent inseparable dimensions.
Through this community engagement, MTU Psychology students demonstrated that their professional and social role extends far beyond university lecture halls, fulfilling the mission of promoting empathy, healthcare, and human dignity.
