Lipkovo/Skopje, 15 September 2026 – Today, Mother Teresa University in Skopje formalized another important institutional partnership by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Municipality of Lipkovo. The memorandum was signed during an official meeting by the Rector of MTU, Full. Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., and the Mayor of the Municipality of Lipkovo, Mr. Erkan Arifi.

The purpose of this Memorandum is to establish a formal framework for institutional cooperation between the Municipality of Lipkovo and MTU, with the aim of strengthening the link between local government and the academic community, promoting socio-economic development, improving the quality of life in the municipality, and providing students with practical and professional training opportunities.

At this important meeting, Rector Fetaji was accompanied by a high-level MTU delegation consisting of Vice-Rectors Full. Prof. Fati Iseni, Ph.D., and Assoc. Prof. Bujamin Bela, Ph.D., Secretary General Rahim Jashari, Ph.D., as well as Mr. Driton Zendeli and Mr. Bejamin Rexhepi.

The main areas of cooperation defined in the memorandum include the development of technology, software and cybersecurity, agriculture and support for local producers, sustainable environmental and energy management, public policies and education, as well as the involvement of faculties and their expertise in the fields of legal, economic and humanities sciences.

The memorandum also provides for the preparation of joint applications for European projects (IPA, Horizon Europe, Cross-Border and others), the provision of scientific expertise by academic staff, as well as the creation of conditions for practical training and the engagement of MTU students in the sectors of the Municipality of Lipkovo.

This four-year cooperation marks an important step in MTU’s engagement with local institutions and in creating concrete opportunities for the development of the region and our students.
