Skopje, April 29, 2026 – A seminar aimed at strengthening institutional capacities was held at Mother Teresa University in Skopje, focusing on enhancing university–industry cooperation and aligning study programs with labor market requirements. The event brought together deans, academic staff, and members of curriculum committees.
The seminar was implemented through four strategic phases, during which the Rector of MTU, Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., emphasized the importance of institutional transformation and the necessity of adapting study programs to contemporary labor market trends.
The four strategic phases included:
First, open day and career fair preparation. Guidelines for promotional activities at faculties were defined, highlighting the responsibility of each unit in presenting its academic offerings. Special emphasis was placed on involving current students and alumni as ambassadors of the university’s success.
Second, aggregation of data and employment metrics, during which the need was introduced to standardize data collection protocols from leading employers in the country.
Third, protocol for curriculum revision. The process of reviewing study programs within the academic councils of faculties was discussed. The process is to include direct input from industry representatives and alumni, who are to provide recommendations for integrating new trends into existing curricula.
Last, accreditation process and final activities. Faculty working groups were assigned concrete tasks to finalize new curricula and prepare for the accreditation process.
At the end of the seminar, an overview of institutional achievements for the period April 2025 – April 2026 was presented, marking significant progress across key university areas. The main indicators of this development include: an increase in student enrollment by over 1,000 new admissions for the 2025/26 academic year; strengthening of academic staff to 203 members; scientific excellence with 5,155 citations and an average teaching staff rating of 4.40; internationalization with 8 active international projects and over 20 new cooperation agreements; and infrastructure consolidation with a 33,000 m² owned campus and efficient financial resource management. These results confirm the continuous transformation of MTU into a higher education institution oriented toward quality, research, and modern development.
The seminar reaffirmed the commitment of Mother Teresa University to preparing professionally skilled graduates ready for the labor market through a transparent and modern academic process.
