MINIMUM WAGE IN PRIVATE COMPANIES SHOULD BE RAISED TO 500 EUROS, WHILE GOVERNMENT SHOULD REDUCE HIGHEST-IN-REGION CONTRIBUTIONS
Skopje, May 15, 2024 – Mother Teresa University in Skopje organized the University’s Career Fair for the third time today, at which the business community represented by 25 private companies and graduates from various MTU study programs met.
The organizer of the event, the Rector of MTU, Lecturer Izet Zeqiri, Ph.D., stated that the idea for the development of this kind of fair is to establish the first contacts between the employers and the potential employees, and, after a joint analysis with the respected business community, MTU is to design its study programs.
“MTU will cooperate with its partners throughout the academic year, while its study programs will be designed according to the needs and requirements of the labor market. There are deficient study programs for the labor market, and students, especially graduates, are prepared for the actual sector from the first years of study,” Rector Zeqiri stated.
The Fair’s guest of honor, the President of The Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia, Mr. Mendi Qyra, stated that although a large number of citizens seek work at the Employment Office, the labor market still needs workers.
“We have data that, although 103,000 people seek work in the Employment Office, the business seeks about 25,000 different workers, both professional and general staff. Also, there are ambiguities here because, on the one hand, 103,000 people seek work, but the business cannot find 25,000 workers,” pointed out Mr. Mendi Qyra. Furthermore, he added that salaries should also be increased, using the formula that the business community should provide a minimum salary of 500 Euros, while the government should reduce the contributions, which rank the highest in the region.
The president of the Business Confederation of Macedonia, Mr. Mile Boshkov, stated that the most important thing is for students to study and work in their homeland and that they should create values for themselves, their family, and society.
“It is inevitable to research among the companies that are best for you, the students and that correspond to your future profession and your future professional path; yet do not forget that the most important thing in life is to include the culture of the family in your profession and in what you do in life so you can be impressive and an example to the others,” addressed Mr. Mile Boshkov the students.
