Varaždin, Croatia – May 12, 2026 – Mother Teresa University in Skopje officially formalized its cooperation with University North (Sveučilište Sjever) in Varaždin, Croatia, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement was signed by the Rector of MTU, Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., and the Rector of University North, Full Prof. Damir Vusić, Ph.D.
This strategic partnership with University North, ranked 373rd globally according to the international Times Higher Education World University Rankings, aims to enhance the academic and scientific research processes of both institutions.
The main areas of cooperation include: dual degree master’s studies through the establishment of joint study programs that are to enable students to obtain dual diplomas; joint research groups involving MTU’s academic staff; staff and student mobility through the exchange of experiences and academic mobility, with the goal of improving the quality of teaching and the overall study experience; and cooperation in scientific conferences, where MTU is to serve as an official partner in the organization of prestigious IEEE conferences and in the publication of joint scientific journals.
MTU Rector Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji emphasized that this memorandum represents an important step toward the further internationalization of UMT and the creation of new opportunities for students within the European higher education market.
During the signing ceremony, Rector Fetaji, Ph.D., was accompanied by Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Diturije Ismaili, Ph.D.; Full Prof. Zoran Trifunov, Ph.D.; and Assoc. Prof. Vladimir Kitanovski, Ph.D.
The agreement stipulates that the specific activities are to be elaborated in detail within 90 days through separate memorandums of cooperation for each individual project.
