Kosovo, May 2024 – The Faculty of Technical Sciences students, i.e., Customs, Freight – Forwarding and Insurance students, were on a study visit to the customs sector in Uroshevac in the Republic of Kosovo.
The study visit was led by the dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Neritan Turkeshi, Ph.D., accompanied by the field expert with 20+ years experience in customs, Lecturer Zija Zimeri, Ph.D. The senior students were welcomed by the professional services headed by the customs director, Mr. Fisnik Visoka, who informed the students about the customs services, the Asikuda program, and presented the single customs document (SCD).
MTU students had the opportunity to visit the detailed-control-of-goods warehouse carried out in the red channel, and they got to know how the goods are controlled physically and documented, which includes price, weight, transport (costs), and origin.
The students closely followed the calculation of VAT and excise duty and, also, how goods are released without physical control (the green channel). Moreover, they received detailed information about the role of both the yellow and red channels, with the latter providing detailed data control and the number of detailed sets.
We would like to emphasize that Customs, Freight – Forwarding and Insurance students at the Faculty of Technical Sciences at MTU recently visited the Deni customs terminal, the transport sector in the warehouses, and the border checkpoint in Tabanovace, where they were informed about vehicle and barge controls and followed the work process of how the goods are rated.
Out of these two expert study visits, by comparing the two customs, the students came to the conclusion that the procedures and customs matters are the same, but the difference in the frequency of barges in the Republic of North Macedonia is greater.
