Varazdin, Croatia – May 12, 2026 – The Rector of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., and the Rector of University of Óbuda in Budapest, Full Prof. Levente Kovács, Ph.D., signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening interuniversity cooperation and the internationalization of both institutions.
The agreement includes the involvement of MTU as a partner organizer of the international IEEE Conference in Pula, Croatia, organized by the University of Óbuda and its partners. It also foresees the establishment of dual degree master studies, as well as the formation of working groups across several faculties that are to collaborate on research projects and academic publications.
The memorandum, signed in Varaždin, Croatia, marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at advancing educational and scientific research processes between the two universities.
Through this official act, MTU and the University of Óbuda agreed to cooperate in several key areas, including the development of study programs and joint research initiatives, the organization of scientific conferences and publication of academic journals, the implementation of projects of mutual interest, as well as the exchange of research activities among academic staff and students.
MTU Rector Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., stated that this cooperation with one of Hungary’s prestigious universities, renowned for its tradition in technical sciences and innovation, is to open new opportunities for MTU students and academic staff toward European experiences and major scientific projects.
During the signing ceremony, MTU Rector Full Prof. Bekim Fetaji, Ph.D., was accompanied by Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Diturije Ismaili, Ph.D.; Full Prof. Zoran Trifunov, Ph.D.; and Assoc. Prof. Vladimir Kitanovski, Ph.D.
The signing of this memorandum comes as part of MTU’s vision to create a broad network of partnerships with elite universities in the region and across Europe, with the aim of enhancing the quality of scientific research and promoting academic mobility.
